"Junto a ti is a homage to my great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother, who are the Latina women that have empowered me throughout my life. While creating this piece, I asked myself, "How can I speak about my Hispanic heritage without addressing the Hispanic families who are being torn apart from each other today?" Therefore, the piece aims to be a call for action to address the family separation occurring at the border today, while honoring the Hispanic women in my family. The piece is a mixture of love, power, passion, suffering, and longing." Performers: Laura Juda, '23; Mabel Lujan, '20; Wendy Ordonez, '23; Alexandra Rosen, '20; Charlotte Willis, '23 Music: Lila Downs, "Benediction and Dream"; Elliot Goldenthal, "The Floating Bed"; Chavela Vargas, "Toda una vida" Note: This artist is interested in receiving critical feedback on her work.
